Community Engagement
During the planning process, two community engagement sessions were held to gauge issues and opportunities community members saw within their neighborhood. At each of these meetings, attendees were invited to share their priorities for the Grace Manor Neighborhood Plan, and collaborated with the CCIP and Urban Partners teams. Four key takeaways were then created by Urban Partners, shown below.
Key Takeaways from Community Engagement
1
Community Engagement & Ownership
Residents noted weak neighborhood attachment due to absentee landlords and high rental rates
2
Public Infrastructure & Safety
People highlighted unsafe streets, poor lighting, trash dumping, and neglected sidewalks as persistent issues
3
Housing & Sustainable Development
Residents described housing neglect, aging housing stock, and a dominance of rentals
4
Economic Development & Local Business Support
The lack of local retail, pharmacy, and dining options—exacerbated by the Rite Aid closure—was a central concern
